Central Tuscany Local Health Authority: 13 hospitals, 2735 beds, a system of hospitals organised according to the intensity of care model.

Since 5 November 2019, surgeons, anaesthesiologists and nurses at the San Giuseppe EmpoliSan Pietro Igneo of Fucecchio and Ospedale degli Infermi of San Miniato hospitals have started using the new component O4C Surgical Procedures and Operating Register.

The software has been in action in all operating theatres with the support of Dedalus specialists for about a week.

O4C turned out to be so user-friendly and intuitive that some professionals, in particular in the outpatient surgery/minor surgery departments, were surprised by the simplicity of navigation between the different steps of the process and the new “block monitoring” function for fast surgery bookings. “Thanks to you, I’m saving 45 minutes a day!”

The project incorporates the replacement of the Galileo Surgical Pathway solution in the three healthcare facilities within the former Empoli Health Authority and the planning of a backward compatibility migration in other Central Tuscany healthcare facilities currently using Ormaweb.

The system will allow access from the O4C homepage to operate the Surgical Procedure Management system including the surgical report, anaesthesiology and nursing records and to operate the functions still on the Ormaweb platform (Theatre room plans/operating register) through context sharing.

The healthcare facilities involved in the project will be:

San Giovanni di Dio Hospital, Piero Palagi Hospital, Santa Maria Nuova Hospital – (Florence)New Mugello Hospital (Borgo San Lorenzo)
Serristori Hospital (Figline and Incisa Valdarno)
Santa Maria Annunziata Hospital (Bagno a Ripoli)
San Jacopo Hospital (Pistoia)
Lorenzo Pacini Hospital (San Marcello Piteglio,)SS. Cosma and Damiano (Pescia)
New S. Stefano Hospital (Prato)

Among its objectives, the completion of the project across all Central Tuscany Local Health Authority facilities aims to create a single monitoring point for waiting lists management, with clear advantages for patients accessing treatment faster and for surgical teams rota management.
