What challenges do emergency departments face today?
Just open any newspaper to find the answer:

  • greater integration with the local emergency network
  • speed
  • safety
  • training and upholding of latest professional standards and shared protocols
  • consolidation of facilities to maintain organisational autonomy and care pathways management for each site

and much more…

ER4H is the new Dedalus component for emergency departments, released precisely to achieve those aims.

In 2019, an important coordination project for 27 emergency departments was launched with great skill and expertise:

  • Romagna Local Health Authority: n ° 14 (6 PS and 8 PPI)
  • Central Tuscany Local Health Authority: n ° 8
  • North West Tuscany Local Health Authority: n ° 5 (+ n ° 7 already activated in 2018)
  • South East Tuscany Local Health Authority: n ° 5

What are the reasons for this fast proliferation of ER4H?

  • High configurability: creating emergency networks and care pathways that can be customised to optimise processes and specialist integration
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic care pathways: the system differentiates the care pathways by diagnosis and allows the creation of new paths according to developments and diagnoses
  • National Health System protocols for urgency and competence levels: implementation of recognised collective standards guaranteeing safety and excellence in care
  • Patient and family’s right to be informed: through notification systems and data sharing between interested parties and the medical/nursing staff
  • Clinical Communication: managing progress of the treatment pathway through staff handovers with configurable alert system
  • Project D4: ER4H is now connected to all organisational and community services through the D4 Picasso integration bus

One of the aspects most valued by the urgent care staff in both Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany was the use of ER4H with the BI4H Business Intelligence D4 component to evaluate the workloads and efficiency of the organisational model in order to specify potential areas of improvement.

ER4H activation will continue in 2020 in the following sites:

  • Lombardy Region, Valle Olona Local Health Authority: 4 emergency departments (2 already activated in January). The system will be activated within the SISS setting envisaged for Urgent Care services
  • Romagna Local Health Authority: completion of the project with the PS of Cesena and Forlì
  • Lombardy Region: activation of the system at the PS of the Buzzi Hospital in Milan
  • Lombardy Region: activation at A.O Lecco (2 emergency departments)
