During the D4 Evolution Event, we met Mr. Eric Lainé, President of SFIL (Société Française d’Informatique de Laboratoire – French Laboratory Informatics Society) an association that aims to encourage the evolution and innovation of IT Laboratories Systems and act as a reference point for all French laboratories on matters of privacy, security, standards, and professional training.

Manuela Mémin, Dedalus France DIS Product Manager, has recently been nominated to be a member of the SFIL committee. We asked her to tell us about her particular expertise.

Manuela Mémin: For both myself and for Dedalus, SFIL offers a great opportunity to collaborate with all the major market players that work in the Medical Laboratories sector.  With SFIL we are in contact with many HW & SW Vendors, service providers, institutions, insurance companies and so on. In this way we can work together to determine the most important objectives for innovation and implementation of international regulations .

What is the role of SFIL in French Health market?

Manuela Mémin: SFIL is involved in many public and institutional meetings and workshops and works closely with government departments, trade unions, and scientific societies. During these events SFIL supports its members, for instance in writing guidelines for the implementation of the GDPR regulations for Laboratories, in collaboration with CNIL (National Commission on Informatics and Liberty). Furthermore, SFIL plan training courses in collaboration with ANS (National Health Agency), for example, a course dealing with the LOINC code and MSSantè standards (Safe Health Messaging).

What innovation does this collaboration bring to your job?

Manuela MéminSo far, my experience has been very positive – the partnership is very pro-active and very stimulating because it provides the opportunity to follow the developments of French laboratories.

At the moment, SFIL is working with the special committee for the Quadro #MaSante2022 program and is involved in the team ‘Logiciels de laboratoire et Environnement réglementaire’. We are also busy with the organisation of the annual SFIL event scheduled for June 2020.

All these opportunities are important for my role at Dedalus as DIS Product Manager because they enable us to stay up to date and ready with our solutions to meet the needs of the market.
